Christophe Baudouin, MD, Ph.D.

Prof. Baudouin is Head of the Department of Ophthalmology III at the Quinze-Vingts National Ophthalmology Hospital, Paris (since 2000), and Head of the Department of Ophthalmology at the Ambroise Paré University Hospital, Paris (since 1995). In addition, Prof. Baudouin is Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Versailles, St-Quentin-en-Yvelines (since 2001), and Director of Research Team at Vision Institute, University Pierre and Marie Curie, Paris.

With a Gold Medal Thesis Prize, Prof. Baudouin obtained his MD from the University of Nice in 1988. He qualified in Ophthalmology in 1989 and obtained his Ph.D. in Ophthalmology/Immunology from the University of Paris XII in 1992 with the highest level of distinction. Prof. Baudouin obtained his Professorship in Ophthalmology in 1995.

Among the various positions that he holds, Prof. Baudouin is Vice-President of the French Glaucoma Society (since 1997) and was President of the Ophthalmological Society of Paris between 2004 and 2011. From 2012-2016, he served as General Secretary of the French Society of Ophthalmology, where he was also an elected member of the Board for 7 years (2009-2016), and was Vice-President from 2011-2012. Prof. Baudouin is a member of various associations including the American Ophthalmological Society, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the European Academy of Ophthalmology. He was awarded the prestigious Chevalier de l’Ordre National de la Légion d’Honneur in 2015.

Prof. Baudouin has authored over 160 journal publications, and has been invited as a speaker in over 100 conferences in the last 5 years. He has also been the Editor-in-Chief of the French Journal of Ophthalmology since 1999.
